Consumer brand revival · Trademark IP

The brands America never forgot.

RetroBrands U.S.A. acquires iconic American trademarks after their original owners abandon them: Hai Karate, Victrola, Tender Vittles, Sani-Flush. Then it brings them back to market with licensing and manufacturing partners.

The model

How a dormant brand comes back.

  1. Identify the abandoned mark

The USPTO defines an abandoned brand as one out of commercial use for more than three years with no intent to resume. RetroBrands actively seeks out famous trademarks that are no longer important to their original owners, but still mean something to the people who grew up with them.

  2. Acquire the trademark IP

The focus is the intellectual property: the trademarks themselves, not inventory or real estate. Rights have been acquired in a myriad of ways, with an entrepreneurial, flexible approach to deal structure.

  3. Revive it with partners

Contract manufacturers, licensing partners, and investors bring each brand back to shelves. The common link across the portfolio isn't manufacturing synergy. It's strong, favorable consumer brand awareness that never went away.
